Great Sea Commission is a training & equipping ministry led by Jonathan and Christie Swift.
The Bible calls the Mediterranean "the Great Sea." Dominated by secularism, traditionalism, and Islam, the people of the Great Sea region today need the gospel more than ever. In close partnership with several international churches and ministries, Great Sea Commission trains local church leaders and their people in Lebanon, Egypt, Greece, Albania (so far!) and in the USA as well.
The Apostle Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 15:1-2, and 58: "Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain... Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain."
Our desire is to see God's leaders and people discover the heart of God in the Word of God and hold fast to his word on the adventure of a steadfast and abounding life in alignment with his purposes. We do this primarily through our Training For Transformation: highly interactive workshops using simple transferable tools and coaching in biblical hermeneutics for church leaders and their people.

JONATHAN & CHRISTIE SWIFT
Jonathan and Christie Swift have over 30 years of diverse ministry experience in the USA, the Near East, and North Africa. Jonathan holds an MDiv. (Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary); an STM in Islamic Studies (Near East School of Theology, Beirut), and a DMin. in Multi-Cultural Preaching (Westminster Theological Seminary). Christie has a BA in Education and completed the core courses of the MDiv. Together the Swifts have raised five children and planted churches in Lebanon and Dearborn, MI. They enjoy sailing, hiking, and pickleball.
