Job Title: Full-Charge Bookkeeper (Nonprofit)
Reports To: Director of Operations
Schedule: Part-Time (20-25 hours/week) or Full-Time (40 hours/week)
Work Model: Hybrid (Remote work with some scheduled in-office time)
Compensation: $22–$26 per hour, depending on experience
Availability Requirement: Must be available to work during core hours, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM (Eastern Time)
Position Summary
Equipt is a gospel-centered nonprofit ministry that exists to serve and strengthen church planters and missionary partners. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Full-Charge Bookkeeper to manage the day-to-day financial operations of our organization.
The bookkeeper will oversee full-cycle accounting responsibilities, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable/receivable, payroll coordination, financial reporting, and reconciliations. The ideal candidate brings strong nonprofit accounting experience, thrives in a gospel-driven culture, and demonstrates both professional excellence and personal integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and chart of accounts
Record and classify all financial transactions (income, donations, expenses, reimbursements)
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor bills and donor receipts
Process payroll and maintain payroll records in coordination with HR systems
Reconcile bank and credit card accounts monthly
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and reports for internal use and board review
Support annual nonprofit budget preparation and forecasting
Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
Coordinate with external CPA or auditor during annual reviews or audits
Track restricted funds, grants, and donor designations
Maintain internal controls and improve financial systems and workflows
Assist with 1099 filings and year-end reporting
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in full-charge bookkeeping, preferably in a nonprofit setting
Strong understanding of nonprofit fund accounting principles
Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel
Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
Ability to manage sensitive financial information with integrity
Self-motivated and reliable in a hybrid work environment

Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with nonprofit donor management systems (e.g., Planning Center, Bloomerang)
Experience with Ramp, Gusto, Base Camp, or similar tools
Background in supporting financial operations for religious or missions-based nonprofit organizations
