Position Overview
We are seeking a full-time Accountant who is proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about supporting the work of church planting and global missions. This role is responsible for managing the organization’s full-cycle accounting and payroll processes while leading the Accounts Payable team. The ideal candidate is a systems-minded problem solver with nonprofit and/or church accounting experience.
Key Responsibilities
· Oversee and manage all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, bank reconciliations, monthly close, and financial reporting.
· Administer and process payroll, housing allowances, and benefits across multiple states.
· Lead and supervise Accounts Payable Clerks; provide support and direction to ensure timely and accurate processing of expenses.
· Collaborate with leadership to improve and implement financial systems, controls, and reporting tools.
· Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and applicable state/federal regulations.
· Coordinate with external auditors or consultants as needed.
· Provide accounting support and training to ministry partners and church plants as required.
· Work closely with cross-functional teams on budgeting, forecasting, and grant/donor fund tracking.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
· 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a Christian nonprofit or church environment.
· Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles (GAAP, fund accounting, etc.).
· Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Aplos, or similar platforms).
· Demonstrated leadership and team-building experience.
· Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
· Self-starter who thrives in both independent and collaborative work environments.
· Comfortable working in a hybrid model with minimal supervision.
· Passionate about serving the Church and advancing the gospel through financial stewardship.
Work Environment
· Hybrid: Primarily remote with scheduled in-office days as needed.
· Schedule: 40 hours per week
